Hey everyone! I want 2 start off with saying thank you for the opportunity to write this interview, its extremely flattering and its my pleasure to tell you about myself!!!!!!! My name is Brett Thomas Reeves, 23 yeats and I was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada!!!. We lived in Vancouver until I was around 5 years old, we moved to a small town approximately 4 hours north of Van called Ashcroft, where we lived until I was about 11! The town was very small, somewhere in the ball park of about 1200 people! We moved to Edmonton, Alberta and lived in and around the city for the remainder of my life! I played most sport and was always very good at most of them, thanks to my two older brothers, Troy and Cody!! We were always very competitive and thus always usually top of our teams!
"Lets get realistic, people pay me for my picture...... I don't think it can get anymore flattering than that!!! Can it!???"
I love to travel and see the different cultures of the world, at first when I started modeling I didn't like it that much because its a lot of alone time and this job for me consists of bouncing around in all the different markets. I got used to it and I really enjoy it now, I love my job and its incredibly flattering that people put there trust in me to sell there products! Like lets get realistic, people pay me for my picture...... I don't think it can get anymore flattering than that!!! Can it!??? I love 2 read, Stephen King is a favorite and Greg Iles! I read mostly when I travel because unfortunately I only speak English and most of the countries I am in I have no idea what people are saying hahahahhaha I generally only read fiction, I love the thriller/mystery style books! I just finished reading a book from Greg Isles called "Sleep No More", I read it in like 3 days, it was so good I couldn't put it down!!! I love that! I love to cook, I was supposed to play college basketball back in Canada (knee injury) I was planning on majoring in culinary arts! Which for people that don't know, cooking classes hahahahahahha I exercise a lot, mainly to look good, but also because its my job!!!!!
Thanks to her mother, modeling got his attention! I started to model in the spring of 2009, my first test shoot was in march! I shoot it in a small studio style apartment, it wasn't the best shoot I have done hahaha and for my first shoot I almMst wanted to quit!!! I was really nervous and I wasn't really sure what to expect or what was expected of me! I started modeling because of my beautiful mother, Sandra Reeves, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU MOM!!!!! She called me at work 1 day because she heard of a scouting agency (Proscout) that was coming 2 the city and she insisted that I go and check it out! I was starting a career in Ironworking and I was working at Shell petroleum building a new plant just outside of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta! I really enjoyed my job, it was very physical and at the end of the day I was happy and I felt like I had accomplished more then I possibly needed to! To be completely honest, the pay was very good too!!!! So at first I didn't really want to go but my beautiful mother talked me into it! I went to the initial invitation and I was asked to go to Baniff, Alberta and meet 20 of the top agencies in North America! I went and things went very well for me, I was called back from 16 of the 20 agencies and I had the most call backs out of everyone, even the women!!!!! They pulled me on stage and I had to make a small speech, it was an incredible feeling of satisfaction!
They told me later that it was the most call backs in the history of Proscout, so you can imagine how flattering it was!! I was an Ironworked from Edmonton, Alberta........... I didn't have any clue what the possibility of what was in store for me and I didn't know the first thing about modeling!!! I didn't make my decision right away of what agency I was going to sign with and I took my time and really wanted to make sure I signed with the best possibly options for my future! I ended up signing with Elmer Olsen models in Toronto, Canada! I flew out to Toronto and started my career with test shoots and after about two months I flew to Athens, Greece!!! The rest is history!!!! In Toronto, I did mainly test shoots and I believe most of them eventually got picked up by magazines! I want to take a minute and say THANK YOU to James Nixon of Fantastic Mag, you have always supported me and you have no idea how grateful I am to have met and worked with you!!!! SO THANK YOU hahahahah I ended up shooting a cover for Harliquin Romance (Canadian Romance Novel) which was so funny because my mom read them while she was growing up, big family joke!!!!!
Working with photographers: Chemistry, feeling confident and the nude shoots! The thing I enjoy most with a photographer is when you have chemistry, you have to feel confident in your surroundings and I believe that the chemistry between yourself and the photographer is a huge part of this!!!! I'm gonna say that I really don't have any special preparation that I perform before a shoot. I just try to go there with an open mind and with the best possible intention, to get great pics and to sell products!!!! Backstage Stories...... I have done a couple nude shoots and I have to say that there is something sexy about it, like having 4 or 5 people watching you and admiring the beauty of your body while you pose, theres a bit of a turn on there!!!!! That may just be me, but theres so many beautiful features on the naked body!
Runway shows: by fav his fav part of this business Runway shows are by far my favorite part of this job!!! I love the feeling of being on stage, and I love the rush I get right before I go out!!!!!!! I have never done a show season in any market, I'm only 5'11 and in the runway world that´s short. So my mother agent and I have decided that it wouldn't be beneficial for me to go.( Which really sucks but I've done a fair amount of shows since I have been modeling so I'm ok with it! I have walked for CK underwear in Toronto, Express for the vogue 30th anniversary in New York, Forever 21, a German client called C&A a couple of times, ect! In the year and 4 months I have been modeling I have walked for about 10-15 clients so its not bad at all, and they have all paid fairly well. When I did CK underwear in Toronto, I was at the end of the runway on my final look I decided I was gonna go out on the limb and be sexy and I pulled the front of the underwear down. I didn't realize how far I had pulled them down until about 3 weeks later and a friend of mine told me I was in a mag and they had written a small piece about it. Lets just say it was almost too close for comfort, but its all for good fun, RIGHT!?!?!?!??! The piece they wrote was in good tongue so it was totally cool with me
