Hey folks! Cooper, the guy from Wyoming is the NY editor of Guapo Magazine. Fluent in Spanish and French, he reveals in this exclusive interview his thoughts about Human Rights, Beauty, Elegance, Show biz, Modeling and, of course, his work in this cool online Magazine.
Well, I’m originally from Casper, Wyoming and I was born and raised there. I moved to NYC to attend NYU three and a half years ago and my life has not been the same since. I love New York and it’s where I’m meant to be. My personal interests include foreign languages, I am fluent in Spanish and French and I jump at every opportunity to speak! I love eating out, traveling, and photography. I come from a family of artists so I definitely have an appreciation for the fine arts, especially how beautiful and artistic photography can be.
Guapo Magazine
I’m the New York Editor. The Editor in Chief is the extremely talented Ignacio Lozano, one of my best friends. He had asked me to help him out with the magazine translating documents from Spanish to English, and then slowly asked me to do more and more until I became a fully fledged editor. Guapo is an online magazine which reveals each new article daily. It is a forum for photographers, designers and artists centralized on the male form. We’ve been described as V Man meets Vice Magazine. I still translate documents from Spanish and French to English but my main activities include interviewing photographers and designers, seeking out new projects, some photoshoot production and street casting. Everything I’ve done has been fun! I love being able to work with friends and creative and ambitions people. It really pushes who you are and what you do.
Cooper´s modeling experiences, beauty, elegance and show biz
I do have some experience in front of the camera, yes. I’ve considered being a model, but I usually have too much other stuff going on. If the opportunity were to present itself then I might be keen to it. When I do get my photos taken, I generally like to do it for my friends who are photographers. I like the way you can take on different rolls and show different emotions in a photo. Plus it’s fun to dress up, or dress down as it usually may be, in front of the camera.
I’d say elegance is much more important than beauty. Elegance is the way that you carry yourself whereas beauty is, as clichéd as it is, just skin deep. Your beauty will fade but your elegance will prevail. I’d say that beauty will help someone get there foot in the door because it will make them noticeable, but they can’t rely on their looks. They have to have the work ethic, intelligence, strive, and to back it up in order to be successful. Unless they sleep their way to the top, if all they have is looks, then they aren’t going to go very far.
I consider show business to be more related to the acting fields, and it’s not exactly my forte. I don’t really like the cult of celebrity that has sprung up in the past 15 years. Fame and success do not go hand in hand. I don’t think you have to be famous to be successful, and fame is not something I’m striving for in my own personal success. Success is being able to do the best at what you’re doing and be able to proudly tell others that you’re doing it.
Cooper by himself
5 most important things for his life:
1. Family, because they have and will always be there for me.
2. Friends, because they are the family that I get to choose.
3. Health, without it I would not be able to do the million things that I do.
4. Fun, if I’m not having fun and enjoying what I’m doing, then I shouldn’t be doing it.
5. Comfort, I want to be able to live comfortably, not excessively, and be able to take care of my family who have always provided so much for me. Human Rights, Free of Speech, Wars and Sexual Behavior: Well, human rights and civil liberties go hand in hand and I feel very passionately about the causes. I fully support the 1st amendment and freedom of speech, as difficult as it may be at times when thinking about the things hateful fear mongering people say, but I believe that everyone has a right to be heard. Civil liberties and human rights go hand in hand with sexual behavior as well, because if someone is not interfering with how you live your life, and would like to get married to someone else, regardless of gender, then it should be their right to do so. As for war, I’m opposed to war and violence and I think that everything can be solved diplomatically, which does not seem to happen very often at all in present times. Dating X Love: I’m very casual and I’m not high maintenance at all. I’m very forthright so if something’s bothering me or I see it’s not going to work out, I will say so. I hate passive aggression and people who don’t say what they mean/want. Sports: I am very competitive, and I love to win. I was an athlete in football and track throughout jr high and high school, and just recently started playing volleyball. I work out all the time and I love staying in shape.
His way to attract someone´s attention: I will usually smile at them and then just go right up to them and say “Hi, I’m Cooper. What’s up?”
Having fun, the places he goes and enjoys the best of life: You can throw me into pretty much any scene and I will have a good time. I love talking and meeting new people, so I just always try to look at the best things in life and have the most fun that I can!
The craziest (nastiest?) thing he´s ever done in a summer time season: I don’t think I’m at liberty to discuss that!
Fav body part and why: I would have to say my legs. I have thick, strong legs thanks to when I played football, and they’re big and strong. Your legs are where your power comes from for your body. Fav singer and which music he listens in his IPOD: I don’t really have a favorite singer. What I’m listening to changes to constantly. The playlist I’ve been listening to recently has Lykke Li, Buraka Som Sistema, Lady Gaga, La Roux, Miike Snow, Jack Peñate and Miley Cyrus! My music tastes are pretty far stretching. Fav food: My family’s ravioli and meatballs that we make from scratch. But I can eat a cheeseburger and fries pretty much all the time. That’s definitely my comfort food. Fav underwear for daily activities and for those coooool sexy moments (lol!): I tend to wear trunk briefs and briefs a lot. I just have to say, regular boxers will never look sexy nor are they flattering. I like to show off my assets, so I guess my daily underwear and sexy underwear are one and the same. An unforgettable moment: Besides this interview, overhearing people talk about Guapo Magazine and hear them say positive things about it! Main motto: “Why Not?”
