Hello Ed, thanks for having me again here in WOM! I have been working on the Made In Brazil Mag since last december, also shooting some campaigns for Winter here in Brazil and doing some more images for my second book. The Made in Brazil mag was an idea that the editor Juliano Corbetta, Heleno Manoel, the stylist and I had while photographing the Juliano´s swimwear line Butch campaign in August last year. We all love magazines, and here in Brazil there´s just quite a few publications focused on male models, so we thought about creating a magazine that could be free of pressures from the advertisers and also be really a professional publication for photographers, stylists, artists, models to show their work in an uncompromising way

From animal costumes to total nudity

We contacted some models (some of them are our buddies) and others that we really admire but had no chance of working with before, and with the help of some really great bookers we got the 20 top male brazilian models, including some new faces that we believe will rock the fashion world! The models really enjoyed the conception of our project and trusted us to do some pretty far-out images with them, from animal costumes to total nudity. And I feel we managed to get a really different and special image from each model; the magazine is on sale at www.madeinbrazilmag.com . From what I know there has been orders from all over the world, from Thailand to Sweden to the U.S.A; and as it is a very limited edition, maybe it will sell out before we expected it would!

The most cool and unusual locations!

We spent almost four months shooting it here in São Paulo, for we had to find a balance between the models´ schedule and our availability; and that somehow guided our choices of places to shoot. Some models had a day off, so we went to a beach, others had a job in the afternoon, so we took them to a studio in the morning; one model made a stop here to work with Xeoeoe Cus between flying from Spain to NYC, and we even photographed a model in his own bedroom. We also had a chance to talk previously to a model where he´d like to be photographed. So, this was really a portrait of the model, there was no product to sell and we could be more creative about it. We love the moments when the model is really feeling the shoot and totally involved with the us. It was super tight team: Juliano, Heleno, Cecilia (the hair stylist) and myself

Cristiano´s world, his influences and some hints

I love my work, so most of the time, I am working or preparing my mind to work.I don´t really have a hobby, and besides collecting photography books, I spend a lot of my time reading! About influences - that would be a long answer - I admire many styles of photographies and photographers ,but I´ll give you some names, in no particular order - Walter Pfeiffer, Lina Scheynius, Jock Sturges, Hedi Slimane, Ari Marcopoulos, Tim Barber, Will McBride, Juergen Teller, Venetia Scott... and the list goes on! Remember that fashion is more than photography as much as photography is more than fashion, so in this field most of the time you will have to come up with a middle ground for these two aspects. And you have to really like what you do, because very often you will be the only one who´ll enjoy the result of a shooting!

The Upcoming projects

I am working with some clients on their campaigns for Spring/Summer here in Brazil, starting working for Made In Brazil Mag number two, some editorial projects and hopefully I´ll finish my book and publish it soon!
