My name is Pedro Andrade. I was born in Rio de Janeirohttp://www.braziltour.com/site/en/cidades/materia.php?id_cidade=3089 and I am a 29 year old journalist that lives in Manhattan and currently host and co-produce four TV shows (3 for NBC and 1 for GNT). and moved to NYC 8 and half years ago.
The Manhattan Connection and NBC TV shows
Well, I have always loved the show and believe it or not, my whole family has been watching it for many years as well. First and foremost I was invited to be interviewed by the team; after a lot of positive feedback from the viewers and the network, they decided to invite me to join the show as a journalist correspondent. Considering the fact that by that time I was already working on “1st Look”, “On the Rocks” and “Pedro’s Diary” (3 shows on NBC), it was a little complicated adding one more full time job, but working with Lucas Mendes, Caio Blinder, Diogo Mainardi and Ricardo Amorin was an opportunity I could not allow myself to miss. http://globosat.globo.com/gnt/programas/programa.asp?gid=19 The rest… is history .
1st Look” www.lxtv.com is a luxury lifestyle TV show on NBC that reaches an average of 5.5 million viewers weekly. It airs on TV, movie theaters, taxi cabs, Jet Blue airlines, etc… My job is to feature some of the very best on multiple areas. Whether it’s about culture, trips, hotels, clubs, bars or restaurants, we try to selected the Top ones Top all fields. Recently “1st Look” received an EMMY for best lifestyle show on American television!
Show business and paparazzis: a complex synergy
Even though I chose a career that is constantly in the public eye, I never intended to become a celebrity “per se”. In the end of the day I am a journalist and the news should be the “star”, not me. The relationship between show bizz and paparazzi is a complex synergy. One depends on the other but at the same time there are lines that should not be crossed. I cannot speak for other people but I try to always make sure the media focus on my work… not my personal life.
“Personal life and looks don´t sustain a career for too long”
Whatever job you choose to do, recognition is always a great response to deal with. Positive and/or constructive feedback is usually appreciated because it means people are interested in what you’re doing. When the public doesn’t care, most likely you’re job is danger. The trick is to keep everyone interested in your work. Only personal life and ‘looks’ don’t sustain a career for too long. You need to offer more professionally in order to keep growing. Nowadays we live in a globalized world, therefore, having friends on different spots is extremely fulfilling. Plus, the fact that I was born and raised in Rio, makes me love my Brazilian viewers even more!
The modeling years
I’m extremely proud of the work I have done in the Fashion World and that would probably never had been possible without my brazilian “mentor” Sérgio Mattos. He started my career as a model. It allowed me to travel the world at a very early age and prepared me for everything else I have done ever since. I do follow fashion but not nearly as closely as I used to. I do cover some Fashion Weeks for NBC these days but I am so busy with my journalism jobs that I don’t have much time to stay as updated as I wish I could be. My style is very classic though. I don’t follow too many trends and I sorta know what works and what doesn’t work for me. I love Paul Smith suits, ADAM LIPPES basics (T-shirts, Polos, etc…) and I am a big fan of watches.
I have worked for a lot of designers here and in Brazil. Armani, Tommi Hilfiger, Adam Lippes, Ellus, Forum, Osklen, Caio Gobbi, Sommer, Gucci, Ferre, etc… I spent three years of my life traveling the world for modeling, so it is hard to even begin mentioning stories, but I remember a gigantic fashion show I worked on in Viena with literally millions of people watching and 3 huge screens behind the catwalk. When we (the models) saw ourselves in those screens and millions of people screaming… It was hard not to feel like a true “rock-star”.

Your way to atract someone´s attention: There is no strategy. Each case is a different case.
Your way to have fun, the places you usually go and recommend in New York, and your way to spend the best of life:
Honestly, because I am ALWAYS working in clubs and restaurants, I do enjoy staying home whenever I can. BUT, right now my favorite restaurants are MARKET TABLE (Carmine Street and Bedford) and 10 Downing (6th Avenue and Downing St) and I enjoy going to a club named CITRINE (22nd and 6th avenue)
The craziest thing you´ve ever done in a summer time season: Ha… that’s an interesting question… I am not the type of guy to talk about anything crazy I might have done : )
Current and upcoming projects
For now I am gonna stick to the projects I am currently working on. I already have a lot on my plate and I attempt to do the best I can do within these two amazing networks (NBC and GNT). I have worked very hard to get here and I am happy to say I’m fully enjoying this stage of my life. I’d like to thank YOU and your viewers for the interest. I am the living proof that with dedication and discipline dreams can come true. I will be in Brazil either May or June for work. I love my country and it is always a pleasure going back. Hopefully I will have more free time to visit more often, but until then, I’ll keep in touch from NY.
