Model Ryan McDonald: "My passion in life would be somewhere in the film industry or writing. I love to experience the composition and escapism that film has to offer"
"Well, I was born in Manhattan, but spent most of my life in Bucks County Pennsylvania. I study drama and concepts of theater and performance privately, but I love all various forms of art. My passion in life would be somewhere in the film industry or writing. I have an obsession with the fine filmmaking and the auteur’s theory ie: Kubrick, Ophuls, Tarkovsky and contemporaries like Paul Thomas Anderson, etc. I love to experience the composition and escapism that film has to offer. I guess I would call
myself a child of evasion hahaha".
Modeling: how did all start
The first person that really drove the idea of modeling into my head is now a great friend and one hell of a photographer named Sebastian Smith. Modeling is a recent love of mine and I’m so blessed for the pportunities that have arisen and the wonderful and iconic artists I’ve met since becoming a model. So far the best thing
about being a model is working with the photographers. I’m totally biased as you can see hahaha, but also my mother is a photojournalist, who got her
legs as a photographer testing for modeling agencies while she was studying in NYC at FIT. So early on I had a glimpse into the creative mind behind the camera. They really are painters of cellulose…well digital now I guess, but they follow very similar guidelines to that of a painter, accentuating the source, subject, shadow, line and space. Just in a different medium. In general though all the unique styles and ideas each photographer brings to the table makes the experience so appealing to me.
Before posing to the lens of a photographer: the pre-game ritual
Coffee is my only pre-game ritual and I have tons of stories, but I don’t want to get anyone in trouble hahaha and the shoot is always sacred. What I love most about working with photographers is their uncanny ability to improv through underestimated situations and all-and-all be completely spontaneous with appreciated results. I think that level of brilliance separates the amateur from the professional.
Ryan by himself
A fashionista?: I wouldn’t call myself a fashionista, but I do love switching up my style when I’m seeing clients. As a model, utilizing the element of surprise is an inevitable and necessary risk. You want to stand out and at the same time wear the clothing well or in the very least a complimentary manner that makes people see themselves wearing it too. I’m always compelled to see designers and stylists thinking outside the box and arranging articles of clothing on a model that doesn’t go with the present fades. I think those progressions and risks are why people love fashion. It’s wearable art and fantasy rolled up into one chic-ideal Imagine you a famous model in the middle of a hugeeeeeee legion of fans. How you´d handle it?: It’s funny you should mention that. I was on the NJ transit heading back to PA from NYC some weeks ago and a photographer-agent approached me and was so kind with his compliments. I’m always flattered when people appreciate me for me, but I’m also a little shy until you get to know me. As for a crowd of wild people, I’ll let you know when it happens hahaha Human Rights, Freedom of Speech, Wars and Sexual Behavior: Firstly, let me say President Obama is doing a great job and give the guy a break he inherited a total mess. As for human rights, allow people to be who they are, as long as they aren’t harming others. Wars, well I have friends who are at war and I love and support them, but the politics of war always seems very “odd” to me. For all the lives and money that we have spent on the Afghani-Iraq campaign we could have bought the place, saved many and secured a livable environment for those that call it home. After all isn’t that why the government pours millions of dollars into tier 1 “black” and “grey” operations, so we don’t have to deal with these consequences? And finally sexual behavior… mmmmm hahaha. All joking aside let people be who they are as long as they aren’t hurting others. If it’s their private lives then let it be THEIR private lives. Who has the right to tell anyone whom they may or may not love, but then that goes back to human rights now doesn’t it? It’s 2010 people evolve... Show biz, Fame and Success and his 5 most important things for his life: I love show business. I love to be entertained. I don’t know if I know what fame or success is yet. I know that I’m never personally satisfied with anything I do. I’m not sure I even know what that is in me, but I do know it keeps me waking up in the morning . The five most important things in my life are also people too: family, friends, dogs, water and food. I’ve had the same best friends since 5th grade and love them dearly Dating X Love: hahaha no comment…. Sports: Loose or tight tank top, baggy shorts and a pair of black speed-cat Pumas His way to attract someone’s attention: I don’t usually go to clubs or bars, so oddly enough I don’t ever plan my style when a beautiful woman approaches me. If I did she’d probably think twice hahaha Enjoying the best of life: I think the key to having fun is surrounding yourself with the proper people in the right environment. I feel most at home at a rock concert. I love the gym, beach, city and the country. I have no favorite spots, I’m always up for going somewhere new and doing something I haven’t before. My try to remain spontaneous and try not to take it all so seriously. After all if you’re miserable then why are you doing it? Take the work seriously not yourself The craziest (nastiest?) thing he´s ever done in a summer time season: Nooooo comment! Fav body part and why? My brain because “it’s a terrible thing to waste.” Fav undies for your daily activities and for those coooool sexy moments (lol!): I don’t usually wear underwear Fav singer and which music he listens in his IPOD: Coheed and Cambria! Fav food: Salad!!! An unforgettable moment: I don’t know I forget. ;-) Motto: Don’t play in traffic
