Catwalks are my favorite thing about modeling. Every time I’m on the runway getting all the attention on me I feel great

My name is Shey Ling and I’m from Panama, specifically from a small town called Penonome 2 hours away from Panama City. My hometown is a beautiful place to grown in cause being a small city you get to know almost everybody so it feels like a big family. My father is a Chinese man born in Panama so I practiced chinese and panamanian traditions my whole life, which made me the person I am now, respectful with any culture and every kind of people. My personal interests are basically traveling to different places and get to know people from everywhere. One thing that I really enjoy is watching movies, but any kind of movie; I love blockbusters as well as independent movies and documentaries

When I was a kid I never thought about modeling. A lot of friends and people used to tell me that I could actually be a model, but I was focused in school most of the time and I was really good at it, especially math, so most of my goals were about academic things. But one day, a girl from an agency told me about working with them so I thought why not and gave it a try I started loving it. Being signed with my mother agency Wilhelmina Panama Talents, I´d met some scouters and the opportunities came to my way. Look where I am right now: I’m signed with Wilhelmina Models NY! What I love the most about modeling so far is to be able to take you to places you always dreamt to live in, like, for example, NY!

Test shootings, photographers and runways: A model´s life!

My first test shooting was a disaster, hehehe, because I had no idea how to pose or what to do. The main problem was that I never thought of myself as a model so I never looked at myself as much in the mirror so I didn’t know how to look the best. Working with a new photographer is always a challenge because you get to work with different personalities so you have to find a way to connect with him/her and do a great work together. Before getting in a shooting I like to relax and feel cool , so I just bring myself up by thinking how good I look

And getting ready for it and all of the excitement backstage is always enjoyable. The funny thing is that I always get a little nervous waiting for it but when I have to go out it goes away, like magic. I guess I just know that it is my moment so I enjoy it. I’ve done fashion shows back home in Panama and here in New York for Christian Siriano, winner of Project Runway, Adolfo Domínguez, Lacoste, Van Cleef and Arpels, L’Oreal, Bergdorf Goodman, Michele and Henry Roth, just to name a few

A fashionista? Ohhh, when I’m not working as a model my outfit is a t-shirt, jeans and converse. I love to feel comfortable when I’m around, but if I’m going out I also enjoy dressing up and feeling sexy
Imagine u a famous model surrounded by a huge crowd. How you´d handle it?: I would probably feel a little embarrassed but I will definitely treat everybody with dignity
Human Rights, Freedom of Speech, Wars and Sexual Behavior: I live my life the way I think it’s the best and the way I want to, so I expect people to do the same. I try not to judge anybody because we are all free in this world and we all have one life so everybody can choose the way they want to live it. The problem is when whatever you are doing is affecting somebody else in a bad way, so we all have to know that we are sharing this world together and that we need to think of other people when we act

Show Biz, Fame, Success and 5 most important things for her life: I think Fame and Success mean that what you are doing for a living is something you really enjoy and that you are happy every morning when you go to work, whichever your work is. And the 5 most important things in my life are::
#1 Family, because they are always there for you
#2 Friends, because you can’t be an island, people need people
#3 Success, cause I want to leave a mark in this world
#4 Peace of mind, to feel good with your own person
#5 Having a lot of big dreams, cause if you target the stars you might even get to the moon
Dating X Love: I’m focusing on myself lately but that doesn’t mean I will say no if fate brings someone good

Sports: Basketball has always been my favorite
Her way to atract someone´s attention: Using the eyes, that’s the best way. Just let them know with your eyes that you are interested and it works!
Having fun, the places she usually goes and enjoys the best of life: I have fun going out with my friends, even if it is just dinner and good conversation. I usually go to Central Park or alongside
the Hudson River. I just bought a pair of rollerblades and I like to go there by myself, enjoy the view and get lost in my thoughts
The craziest (nastiest?) thing she´s ever done in a summer time season: To do list: Do something crazy!!! Soon!!!
Fav body part and why: My legs, they are long and my weight never goes there if I gain some, so they always look pretty good….hehehe.
Fav singer and which music she listens in her IPOD: My favorite singer is John Mayer; it is just that I get connected with his lyrics and the music is also good. But I listen to any kind of music,I like rock, r&B, hip hop, pop, you name it!
Fav food: I love sushi, but my favorite food changes all the time…I often get bored of eating something and move on to something else

An unforgettable moment: When I won Miss Panama for Miss World.
