French model Tene Gaye: "My first big job was a target ad for Escale and it was seen by many people
of the fashion industry in a big monument of Paris"

Thank you for your interest in my career. My name's Tene Gaye and I´ve been a model for 5 years. I was born in France and my heritage comes from Senegal. I love sports: basketball (Jordan, the best) and soccer too (Brazil number 1, so strong!), hip hop r&b soul classic, travel around the world but never come in Brazil (maybe soon). I´d never thought about being a model. As a matter of fact, since I was younger, my purpose was to become a professional football player but unfortunatellly I had no luck . I became a model by accident. During the Africa nations cup I met a booker who I who put me in touch with an modeling agency in France In the beginning I really didn´t know about modelng world, so it was difficult to
me, I had no professional photo until the day I met Ernest Collins, a very known fashion photographer. He took me under his wings, gave me really inspiration and confidence for my very first shooting with him. It was awesome cause I wasn´t really sure that I´d be able to pose to the cam. What I like most when working with a photographer is to be able to share our ideas together always thinking about what´s on client´s minds.

Castings, Escale and Naomi Campbell!

I remember a backstage´s story in a catwalk for a big fashion italian designer. I was reading a information on a sheet late at night, the light was too low and then a model aproached me behind and put her head on my shoulder. I didn´t pay attention to her (remember, it was dark!). Later on my agent approached me and asked me "Hey, do you know who´s she?. That´s Naomi Campbell!" loooolll!!!

My first big job was a target ad for Escale, by Jacob Delafond Paris. The ad was seen by many people of the fashion industry in a big monument of Paris. The modeling market in France is still very difficult but remains more opened for black men than the fashion´s big campaign for perfume, Garment or still sun glasses. During the Fashion Week we have to go to lots of casting calls (sometimes we are 200 models in just one casting call!). Professionalism and Patience are the keys
in moments like that. We have to wait focusing on what we really wantn with a strong mental skilli I´ve already been in catwalks for big fashion designers like Rykiel, Paul Smith, Gautier, Mugler, Louis Vuitton, just to name a few!

A fashionista?: I´m not a fashion victim. I try to stay real cool to these things related to clothes. It´s really important to me to feel good ti what I´m wearing, after all, I´m a model

Fans: Since I won the contest for 2006 Best Model of the World in Turkey i ' ve been getting a lot of positive feedbacks from the people of Africa and also from another countries. It´s really amazing feeling that they see me as a symbol of success and to be an example for their lives and also inspired them to pursue a modeling career. This also reminds me the times I wanted to be a professional football player buy I always faced the difficulties of this career

Having fun, places he goes and his way to enjoy the best of life: I love my family, so when I have time, I like to be with them in France. I´m a family´s guy but I also like to go out (usually in a disco when there is a good DJ
